Does Zoloft Cause Difficulty In Experiencing Orgasms?
I have always found it difficult to orgasm but have been getting nearer to it with a partner for the last year and a half and have had maybe one or two weak orgasms by myself. I am on zoloft 150mg per day, and I am a thirty year old woman, will the zoloft make it less likely that I will orgasm or impossible? Might there be anything physically wrong with me that causes it to be so difficult?
Hello thanks for choosing HEALTH CARE MAGIC for your health related queries
Zoloft is Sertraline and it is a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) drug. The drug is commonly used in doses of 50-200 mg doses. You are on 150 mg Sertraline and this is a relatively higher dose. At high doses in some susceptible individuals the drug can cause sexual side effects like delayed orgasm, anorgasmia or decreased libido. You are a 30 year old female and I am afraid Zoloft is probable reason behind poor orgasm. If the drug is necessary for you then you can consult your psychiatrist for some other drug with almost same effect but no sexual side effects. Drugs like Bupropion, Mirtazapine etc don't cause sexual side effects. You can visit a psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
