Does A Cortisone Shot Help In The Treatment Of Stiffness In The Legs?

I have nerve damage in my right foot, and drop foot. I had a test on my nerves from my neurologist, My nerves are good. The muscles in both feet and right leg have tightened up and I haven t been able to loosen them up. would a cortisone shot help the muscles?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Foot drop with intact nerves will recover in few months. till that time you have to wear foot drop splint and visit physiotherapist for passive movements and ankle joint to prevent stiffness. Steroid shots has no role in foot drop. Only if there is acute trauma to knee with foot drop steroid injection in high dosage has some role.
