My husband, 85, had radiation treatments 7 yrs ago for prostate cancer. Now PSA has gone up to 1.9. Urologist gave 45 mg dose of Lupron in Jan. Now having bowel problems, not constipation, not diarrhea, just difficulty eliminating stool. CT of abdomen & pelvis revealed considerable stool in descending colon, some decompression there, recommended colonoscopy to rule out a lesion or stricture in splenic flexure. (also he had colon cancer 32 yrs ago with colon resection, considered cured of that episode, recent CEA 1.9) He has also been having difficulty expressing himself, sometimes a bit confused, almost obsessed about this bowel problem, other times perfectly normal, conversationally. He does not want to have the colonoscopy, saying what good is it, as probably wouldn t do anything about it if something there. Also dr had cautioned that colonoscopy more risk of perforation in someone his age. Could these particular symptoms be from the Lupron injection?
