Does A Person Suffering From Vomiting, Sweats And Headache, After A Trip, Need To Be Tested For Malaria?

Son home from Haiti mission trip 1 week, now has been vomiting every 45 minutes for 12 hours, only intake ice chips. Also having sweats and headache. He was Not given Malaria preventative. Given IV fluids and zofran in ER and sent home, told he didn t need tested for Malaria. Do you agree?

Hi,

If there is no fever then need not to get tested for malaria as such. These might be prodromal symptoms. As I would suggest you take symptomatic medication n ORS Electral as of now. And monitor temperature 4 hourly.
