Does A Squishy Painful Bump On My Daughter's Head Need To Be Checked Immediately With A Headache?
Hi, my 12 year old daughter told me yesterday she had a bump on her head that hurts. I checked and it was the size of my finger tip, it was squishy, same color of her scalp. Today she said it hurts more so now it is hard and she said she doesn't feel hair on it anymore and now has a headache. It is behind her right ear. My question is does it need to be checked right away or wait until i can get her an appointment. Thanks for any information.

Hi this may be sebaceous cyst or infection in the scalp with pus. Since she is getting headache with swelling I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment. Symptoms does not look like emergency but needs evaluation. For now you can give her acetaminophen 500mg for pain.
Hope this helps you. Feel free to ask if any further queries. Regards
