Does A Swollen Knee (artificial) With A Huge Bruise Following A Fall Require Immediate Medical Attention?
my grandmother fell and has a swollen knee with a huge almost black in color bruise. it almost looks like a blood blister and is about the size of a small desset dish. the entire lower leg is red. does this require immediate attention or can it wait until the office is open? this is an artifical knee and she fell on tuesday. today was the first time I saw it.
Ofcourse ....these sort of symptoms require immediate medical attention. The large swelling is probably due to blood collection . This could result from fracture of the knee cap bone orr injury to soft tissues around knee.
Kindly get the joint aspirated to rreduce the swelling. Get a Xray done. Start a good anti inflammatory and antibiotic. Apply ice packs to the knee. Take complete bed rest.
I hope my advice has helped Good luck
