Does A Torn Soleus Improve Gradually Over Time?

5 weeks ago I injured my calf doing a hill workout (I'm a runner but hadn't done hills). The doctor said I tore my soleus but I have severe pain on the inside of my lower leg. It is near where the soleus would be but I feel a lump in there and swelling about the diameter of 1 1/2-2". It is not going away with wearing a boot. Could it be a broken blood vessel? It's very painful and I feel that a torn soleus would be improving gradually over this time. I'm frustrated because my doctor is always in a hurry and I don't think listening. Thanks
