Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My baby is 3 months old. He is having cold and bad cough since last 10 days. Doctor advised to give ambrolidl-s and coscopin mixture. I gave the same to him two times till now. I observed that one of his legs shakes after some time. Is it some kind of adverse effect ?
Ambrodil-S syrup is a combination medication that contains both Ambroxol and Salbutamol is used to treat cough. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. This medication may cause shakiness of arms and legs, muscle weakness, dizziness etc.
Coscopin syrup is a combination medicine that contains ammonium chloride, noscapine, sodium citrate etc., is used in the treatment of dry cough. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. It also may cause shakiness or tremors of arms and legs, muscle spasms etc.
So, both Ambrodil-S and Coscopin syrup may cause shakiness of arms or legs. These medications induced side effects are mild as well as self limiting and usually go away over time. But if these medications induced side effects persist for long or bother your baby then you should consult your baby's doctor for medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
