I am 55 years old, have had early stage breast cancer, oncotype of 8, was on tamoxifen for 3 1/2 years and arimidex for 2 months. Many side effects from arimidex. Stopped taking the medication, had spotting, went for pap and had an abnormal pap. Atypical glandular cells non specific. Does this mean cancer?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Atypical glandular cells of unknown significance on pap smear indicate dysplasia in the cervix. However, they are not confirmatory of cancer. You should have a colposcopy and guided biopsy of the cervix to confirm the diagnosis as soon as possible. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist for further management. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
