Does Anal Bleeding Need Immediate Medical Attention?

for thes past few days ive gone to the bathroom and when i have to go #2 ive been bleeding, not in the stool, but the whole toilet bowl turns bright red and it shows when i wipe. this morning i woke up and it felt like i had to go but when i pushed i bled quite a bit but nothing came out, i felt pressure so i continued to push but nothing but blood and air. Do I need to go to the ER or can it wait until I can get an appointment with my doctor

Hello,

A single episode of anal bleed can be associated with altered food pattern but if repeated over a period of times on regular basis indicate underlying piles or fissure condition. It has to be checked with your consultant surgeon for the proctoscopy examination and further management guidelines accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
