I had cateract surgery on July 6 and had anesthesia stayed in recovery room hour and a half high blood pressure, elevated heart rate etc. when I went in for surgery my blood pressure was high I already had appointment set up the following week for a echocardiogram well it showed pressure on my lungs according to my heart dr. my question is could the anesthesia have caused it to show pressure on my lungs I am having the echocardiogram repeated the latter part of Sept. I had this test done four years ago and everything was fine...I have no symptons I do take blood pressure medication...I just Pray it will show ok in Sept.
In cataract surgery usually local anesthesia is given which enters in systemic circulation in very less amount. Besides general anesthesia and muscle relaxants used in surgery usually decreases the blood pressure.
So I think in your case it can be the anxiety or stress of operation which might have elevated your blood pressure. So nothing to worry about and wait for reports.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
