Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend and I both are animal handlers and due to a increase of positive cases of rabies in our community have had our 2 nd shots with one to go in two weeks. Today my friend awoke to find both of her feet extremely swelled up. Could that be an allergic reaction to the vaccine? We had that second shot 2 days ago.
hi, It could be an allergic reaction. it depends mostly on the type of vaccine you take. highly purified vaccines usually do not cause allergic reactions while older type of vaccines do often cause them. if you are sure, you had not sustained injury or a bite, try Loratidine. If the swelling do not subside with antihistamines, consult a physician. all the best.
