Does Atorvastatin Have Any Side Effects?

I have SVT (diagnosed since 1995 and multiple ablations, yet multiple false nodes remain). I have recently been diagnosed with atherosclerosis (one artery blocked 70%, another 50-70%). I have changed my diet significantly for 3 weeks (not long) and continue to be more stringent. I have been prescribed with low-dose aspirin (I am willing to take) and atorvastatin. The latter is my concern. Is it actually safe? FYI, I take zolpidem each night and fluvoxamine (100mg-2x/day). I m 66.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi
In my experience if my patient is having SVT and raised cholesterol levels I too advice him to use low dose aspirin and atorovostatin.
Statins are usually well tolerated.
But in some patients the usual complaints will be easy fatigue, muscle spasms, myalgia, joint pain diarrhoea, raised liver enzymes, dyspepsia.
I advise him yearly twice to undergo for liver function tests.
I hope I have cleared your doubt.
I hope you have good health.
