Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, about 6 months ago i did a stool test and it show blood in my stools. i am still waiting to for my medical insurance to approve a colonoscopy. Should be anytime now. i requested from my doctor to do another stool test which i will be doing in the next day or two. If it shows no blood in my stools do i need to still have the colonoscopy? Thank you
Blood in Stool sample may be due to hemorrhoid or fissure or fistulas or colitis or polyps or infection. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.
Please consult your surgeon he will examine the rectum through Proctoscope and colon through colonoscopy and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
