Does Bug Bite Causes Swelling And Itching Bump?

I went camping about 2wks ago and got bug bites all over my left knee on the side. Its been wicked itchy so I ve tried benedryl and itch creams that don t work. In the last two days my knee has gotten swollen, more itchy, kind of warm (not hot) to touch, red and a bit bumpy. I also may have just scratched my leg up real bad but there are both vertical and horizontal marks going across the entire thing. Both my knees have been achy lately, but I chalk that up to growing pains since I just grew an inch. My left knee also cracks more than normal. Would this be an infection, rash, or what?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

Of course it may be a secondary infection of the bug bites. You may apply an antibiotic ointment, but maybe you will need oral antibiotics. So, I recommend you to visit a Doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. María Miquilarena
