Psychiatrist, Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi s Responded below: Dec 2014 Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries Cannabidiol oil is a cannabis derivative drug and the drug has been found to be very useful in pain conditions. The drug is safe and have no significant interactions with Cymbalta. You can start to use the drug without any fear. Don t forget to discuss with your doctor before making any change in prescription. Yet other experts caution that CDB many interfere with enzyme p450 which is used to metabolize cymbalta in the liver. If p450 is inhibited then levels of cymbalta in the blood stream could be elevated with possible serious results. Do we trust Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi s initial respsonse
I would like to emphasize that taking Cannabidiol oil reduces the ability of liver to metabolize Cymbalta, which can lead to increased level of the medication in the blood which in turn can lead to the occurrence of more pronounced side effects.
If you decide to use Cannabinoid oil for managing pain, it is important to reduce the current dose of Cymbalta. So please be advised to follow up with your treating physician to discuss this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
