Does Chronic Tobacco Consumption Causes Cough And Phlegm?
my roommate insists his 30+yrs habit of dipping tobacco daily- multiple times from morning to night is not responsible for his hacking phlegm-filled coughing daily. I think he is in denial. What say you?

Tobacco consumption is one of the main factors that cause phlegm-filled coughing.
Your roommate should do a lung check-up as soon as possible which includes:
Chest x ray
hemogram
CRP
Spirometry
Pneumoalergens
After the above the pulmonologist will decide for further for the follow up.
