Does Cleaning A Ruptured Chalazion Thoroughly Prevent Its Reoccurrence?
I have a chalazion on my left eyelid that appears very close to draining/rupturing. I’ve been doing warm compresses for several days to alleviate it. My question is, if it ruptures/drains, does it behave like a cyst in terms of the need to remove a sac from within to avoid getting another one in the same place? Or will cleaning it thoroughly be enough?

Does Cleaning A Ruptured Chalazion Thoroughly Prevent Its Reoccurrence?
Hi, If it ruptures it will drain itself and usually no intervention is required. You should continue application of warm compresses. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
