Does Delay In Menses Indicate Pregnancy?

Hi Doctor I am really stress my periods are delayed by 4 days they came on 6 march i had sex on 12 march and took ipill on 14 march morning after taking ipill on 20 march i got bleeding ovulation and now i have not got my periods and are late by 4 days...help me please i even did pregnancy test yesterday(10 april) which came negative i donot want to get pregnant please help and suggest what should be my next step---thanks

Hello,
If you had the intercourse around the ovulation period, your chances of conception are high. Yet, since you had the bleeding after using the emergency pill, pregnancy can be excluded. Use of emergency contraception is effective when used within the stipulated time interval and since you did not do this, the medication is not effective. The medication has affects of the hormone balance and thus can cause delayed natural cycles. Please see a specialist for further help. Take care.
