Does Distended Fetal Bladder Indicate Kidney Issues?
During 35 week ultrasound, we were told that one of the twin babies has distended bladder and will only know more after post delivery ultrasound.... I am worried that this may be an indication for kidney related issue..... Please help us understand .
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Distended bladder can be due to bladder outlet obstruction which can be due to posterior urethral valve, urethral atresia or cloacal atresia. Some conditions are treatable by surgery after birth, while others are not. I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that proper counselling can be done. Get delivery done at a centre with paediatric urologist. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
