I have been currently living in the South Asia country, but I was brought up in an east asia. Everybody here says that drinking cold water causes us tonsils and cold, but I think it is a wrong idea. In Japan, everybody drinks cold water; ENT doctors or any other doctors just advise us not to take too much cold things like ice-cream or any sweet snacks. Is drinking cold water actually bad for our health as the people say?

Does Drinking Cold Water Cause Throat Infection?
Hello, I read carefully your query and understand your concern. No,drinking cold water does not cause a throat infection. If your sore throat is accompanied by a fever, you may become dehydrated so you need to replenish lost fluids. Cold ice water can help soothe the throat,so it is recommended in this case.
