Does Drinking Ice Water In Pregnancy Cause Phlegm In Unborn Child?
Hi. I have friends who told me to avoid drinking too much ice cold water during pregnancy as it will cause the baby to have phlegms when they are born. I do not believe in it and have been drinking cold water everyday since my pregnancy for the past 5 months. Nevertheless, I wish to hear your professional advice. Thank you.
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. No,there is no high risk of causing phlegm in the baby by drinking ice cold water in pregnancy. However, you should avoid drinking very cold water as it may cause cough and cold to you, leading to intake of medicines and treatment. It is better to avoid unnecessary medications in pregnancy. Hope you found the answer helpful. Regards Dr Deepti Verma
