Does Drinking Lemon Water Cause Delayed Periods?

Hello, I m supposed to have my period now but yesterday, which was my first day cycle, I decided to start drinking water with lemon, and now my period doesn t come. Can that be the reason why my period is not coming? Or, there is any other reasons why?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Drinking lemon water doesn't cause a delay in periods. If you are sexually active, I would suggest you to go for a pregnancy test. Delayed periods can also be because of hormonal imbalance, stress, change in physical activity, etc. I would suggest you to go for an ultrasound and consult your gynecologist.

I hope my answer was helpful.

Thank you!
