Does Elevated GGT Cause Weight Gain?

Can an elevated ggt cause weight gain in women?GGT was 139, then two wks later 230, alp just elevated to 148, US was done, CT scan confirms small hemangioma, no big deal, all other labs are normal and low range-I am 63, work as health care administrator (still) and walk about 1-2 miles a day and have no health problems, take no OTC, no vitamins or supplements, nothing--but I am gaining weight ---Thank you

Thanks for posting your query .

GGT is an Enzyme present in the liver . It is involved in Bile transportation . AN elevation in GGT means there is some damage to the liver , it could be minor as in your case . But it is no way related to weight gain .

I advise you to get Serum TSH and Lipid Profile test for the evaluation of your weight gain . Revert back to me with reports .

Continue walking and eat low calorie low cholesterol diet.
