Does Elevated Glucose Levels Cause Soreness In The Tongue?

My tongue has been sore off and on for sometime, each time lasting several days or more. I was pre-diabetic several years ago and the last two tests showed normal glucose levels. I notice that when I have a few cookies or ice cream, for instance, my tongue gets sore again. I do not see any lesions or bumps and wondered if the glucose levels are getting elevated again and causing the problem of the tongue?

Hi,

I have gone through your query carefully and understood your concerns.

Feeling your tongue sore with no apparent lesion/bumps might be related to imbalance in glucose levels. I advise to monitor your blood sugar levels and to keep a good oral hygiene.
Try to limit cookies intake and increase fluids intake.

Please bare in mind that following a healthy diet and conducting a healthy lifestyle are crucial in improvement of symptoms and preventing diabetes onset.

Hope it helped!
