Hello, A few months ago, my belly button became itchy and flaky. When I scratched it, it became red. Also, I don t really clean it as often as I should so there is a lot of black build up in my belly button. However, there is no discharge; just itchy (when I aggravate it) and flaky. I ve just read an article saying that a dermatologist had a flaky belly button and it ended up being cancer. I have set up an appointment with my doctor but just wanted to ask someone on here first what it could be. Thank you for all your help!
Thanks for your question on HCM. Yes, you are right. Continuous irritation of any skin part can lead to skin malignancy. But chances are very rare. Belly button is common site for this. As alot of perspiration accumulate in that area. Ans you told that your hygiene for this part was not good. Which again is a risk factor. And constant rubbing, friction, blackening, irritation lead to skin infection mostly and rarely malignancy. So I advice you to check 1. sugar levek as diabetes can cause similar skin condition. 2. Wear cottin clothes. Avoid tight clothings. 3. Maintain proper hygiene of this part. 4. Consult dermatologist for proper clinical examination.
