Does Food Poisoning Cause Diarrhoea And Sharp Pain At Lower Left Rib?
I have had diarrhea for the past 3 days and also noticed this evening that I have soreness and what feels like a sharp pain when I push my fingers between my lower left ribs. I did eat out in a restaurant the night before I developed diarrhea so have been thinking this is just food poisining but want to make sure my symptoms do not suggest anything I need to follow up with a doctor
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history eating outside in restaurant the night before, developed diarrhea, soreness and tenderness below left lower ribs. Wants to know whether this is food poisoning and whether to consult a Doctor. With the history of eating outside in the restaurant and having the gastro-intestinal changes like diarrhea, this should be taken as food poisoning unless proved otherwise. I would advise you the following: Yes, you should consult a Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of stool and blood. To get a prescription based course of an antibiotic and supportive medicines to get a cure. Have home-made food only. Maintain water and electrolyte balance.
