my 11 year old hit his mouth and has a flap laceration of his gum. the bleeding is slowing after 30 minutes his teeth are not loose his jaw is fine and I think the frenulum is not injured. would a gum flap injury require stitches or will it heal on it s own

There is absolutely no problem if the injury is small.In case of totally detached gums,it requires suturing.since the bleeding has stopped you can relax and get the wound wash gently with plain water. visit your dentist within 48 hours to see if any internal damages to teeth or fractures which might not appear externally. during this age group recovery is speedy so donot worry and take care.
