Does Having Cramping And Brown Discharge Early Signs Of Having Periods ?

Hello,

I have been on birth control for 4 months now. I started taking them when I didn't menstruate for 2 month. All pregnancy tests are negative including the one taken by the dr. The first dose of pills I received my period, but it was light and lasted for over 1 week. I haven't had my period since then, but around the time I am supposed to get my period I have cramping and experience brown discharge. Is this normal?

It is not rare to have very light periods when you are on birth control, sometimes not to have any bleeding at all. As long as you are taking the pills every day, you don;t need to worry. Most of the time, you will develop a pattern that you will recognize, such as having some mild cramping and spotting, or very light bleeding when your period is supposed to come. Then you will get used to having light periods, which is one of the benefits of the pill! Hope this answers your question, please let me know if you have any more questions.
