Does Hiatal Hernia Cause Pain Under The Ribcage?

I have had several bouts of a gnawing pain under/ between my ribs that lasted from late evening into the next afternoon before subsiding. I am 5' 3" and 150 lbs. Could I just be overeating or eating too late. Sometimes eat 7 or later and in bed by 11. I have a heital hernia also wondered if it was causing this pain?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it may cause pain under the rib cage. It may also cause acid reflux, esophagitis or Barrett's esophagus and aspiration pneumonia or pharyngitis etc.

Avoid heavy meal at night. Use tablet Pantoprazole.

Elevation of the head end of the bed. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

If symptoms not improved please consult your surgeon/gastroenterologist, they will examine and treat you with surgery (Nissen fundoplication).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
