Does High WBC And Pus Cells Affect The Baby During Pregnancy?
Hi Doctor I am 8 Weeks pregnant , my urine culture test report says my wbc count is high and the pus cells are high. as i remember i had no fever or cold or cough. my body temp is usually high . I am not atking any medicines as of now . but want to know if it would affect the baby !!! plz help
I understand that you have pus cells in urine with a high WBC count. Both of these indicate a urine infection. The next test is to do a culture and isolate the organism if possible. This does not come positive in every case.
Infections of any sort must be treated as soon as possible during pregnancy as they increase the risk of preterm labor and abortion. Please check your temperature and if it is more than 100degree farenheit then you will need tepid sponging and tablet acetaminophen to bring it down. In my setting I prefer to give an empirical course of antibiotics to help eradicate the infection. So discuss this with your doctor. Also drink plenty of water to flush out the bacteria and pus cells and help clear the infection.
