Hello,
You mentioned that you suffered from sudden hair loss and your doctor put you on
Thyroxine. From this information I can deduce that you had
hypothyroidism, not
hyperthyroidism. The autoimmune thyroid gland diseases (hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto's disease and hyperthyroidism caused by Graves disease) can cause premature graying that's reversible if the problem is corrected.
With regard to the hair, most people with hyperthyroidism notice thinning or fragility of the hair, but sometimes an increased appearance of grey hairs can also occur. With proper treatment of hyperthyroidism, the texture and appearance of the hair should improve significantly.
Genetics is the most important factor for early grey hair. Anyway, considering your circumstances, in my opinion, you may have Hashimoto's
thyroiditis (an
autoimmune disease) and this condition can be related to your early grey hair.
There are not specific solutions for grey hair. The treatment of your thyroid condition is the only solution that I recommend. Don't worry, as I said, in most cases, the appearance of hair improves significantly, if thyroid tests become normal.
Hope this is helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo
