Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Levothyroxine is the thyroid hormone replacement therapy and is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. This therapy is vital in Hypothyroidism. The Levothyroxine dosis is adjusted accordingly to your TSH result. If your actual TSH result is within the range(or better if your actual result is around 2 mlU/L,the optimal result),than 88 mcg/day is the right doses. The right doses of Levothyroxine do not cause Prediabetes or diabetes. Taking too much hormone medicine, can produce Iatrogenic hyperthyroidism or Factitious hyperthyroidism. A pumped-up metabolism from hyperthyroidism can cause prediabetes and diabetes. So,Yes taking too much hormone can cause Prediabetes but in my opinion this is not your case because in circumstances of hyperthyroidism you should have even other symptoms like weight loss, excessive sweating. Heat intolerance.
