Does Increase In One Alpha Dosage Cause Pain In Head And Jaws?
i am taking calcuim carobonate 600mgwith vit d twice a day taking also one alpha 2mcg per day i am having severe ain in my head and jaws and teeth and i went to ent and dentist everything is normal i think that the increase in one alpha from 0.25 to 2mcg is creating this pain. is it that? how much would be the vit d for a CKD in his blood test?
The recommended dose of alfacalcidol is 0.25 to 1 mcg per day. Hence, in my opinion, the dose of 2 mcg per day is definitely high. Also, alfacalcidol may have side effect of headache even in normal doses and this side effect will be particularly more with increased doses. The normal vitamin D level in blood should be somewhere in the range of 20-40 nanogram/ml, where as some experts recommend a normal level of 30-50 nanogram/ml.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
