Does Increased Weakness In Bilateral Lower Extremities Be Due To Ms?
1986 started with trigeminal neuralgia while going through a divorce, move out of state and new job. The MRI showed demylination with MS suspected. I also hve double vision,(prisms help sometimes) some occasional bladder issues, occasional extremity weakness My last bout of uncontroled Trigem - inal Neuralgia was about three years ago when out of desperation I started on Avonex and Lyrica 100 mg twice a day. Did this for a couple of years with success but I decided to stop Avonex as I was have many adrenal issues and with just the Lyrica I am pain free except for occassional spikes of pain that does not last and usually triggered by cold and wind. My neurologist treats me as if I have MS and as a nurse I feel I do too BUT there has never been an increase in demylination in yearly MRI s Since knee replacement in December I have noticed an increase in extremity weakness especially in bilateral lower extremities Does this sound like MS to you? Or what?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
If you have recovered from total knee replacement and then again if there is weakness in lower limb after it then it may be related to ms. How ever conformation can be done only by MRI scan and amount of demylination on spinal cord. You can also compare it with your previous report of MRI.
As a treatment of this there is no cure of ms as we know it. But there is treatment which can help to reduce or stop the progression. You can visit the neuro physician and discuss with him for proper treatment planning. Also check with physiotherapist for strengthening exercises as well if there is a pain then take some physiotherapy tretment for pain relief.
I suggest also check on anti inflammatory diet programme with dietician and follow it because this also helps to reduce the progression in ms.
Understand for any disease or health issue the first thing which happens in body is inflammation. And for condition like ms, muscular dystrophy the anti inflammatory supplement, diet and exercises helps a lot.
I am sure if you follow the things I have indicated here it will be really useful for you.
Take care.
