Does Intake Of Modus During Pregnancy Cause Any Birth Defects In Fetus?

My wife had missed here periods by 10 days..my gynaec advised to take modus tab 10mg twice a day for 3 days...nafter taking modus tab periods dint come so we cheked for pregnancy. .now we are planning to keep the pregnancy...can it cause any birth defects in the child?

According to a study which is done in Western Australia, about use of Medroxyprogesterone (Modus), in the first trimester of pregnancy (and till 18-th week), results that it does not have teratogenic or embryopathic risks. So it can be considered a secure drug. Anyway I would recommend you to consult your gynecologist for the "goods" and the "bads", this drug has, and decide if you will gonna take it or not.
