Does Intake Of Mifipristone Cause Abortion?

Hi dr. I am a 26 yr old unmarried girl.my monthly periods date was 1st in last month.this month till today, i missed my periods.one doctor prescribed me a medicine mefipristone tablet(200mg).should i take it?me and my fiance had sex in dis month without precaution before 20 days.m so worry.please suggest me after taking this medicine ,everything will be normal?

Mifepristone is a medicine used to bring about abortion in case of pregnancy.

Not all women who have unprotected sex get pregnant. So first do a pregnancy test. If it is negative take progesterone to start your period.

If the pregnancy test is positive, it is extremely important to make sure that the pregnancy is inside the uterus before taking the tablets. So get an ultrasound done. In the rare event of pregnancy outside the uterus, these medicines can cause life threatening bleeding
