Does Itchiness And Bumps On The Arms And Scalp Indicate An Allergy?
Hello. For the past several weeks, I ve experienced itchiness and little insect-bite type bumps on my forearms and lower shins, and even my scalp. It s much worse at night. The bites are not clustered together like a rash, but are spread out and there may be only 5 or six on each extremity. It s driving me crazy. Nobody else in my family (husband and 2 children) is experiencing these symptoms. We did move from our home of 10 years to a temporary rental in a new state, is it possible this is an allergic reaction to something in the apartment? Or some creepy crawly thing attacking me?
Hi. As per your case history you are having papular urticaria. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
