Hi,
Marviol is a combined oral
contraceptive. Each tablet contains a small amount of two different female hormones. These are
desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol. Because of the small amounts of hormone, Marviol is considered a low dose oral contraceptive which is used to prevent pregnancy. Marviol is 99% effective when taken correctly. Side effects of Marviol are nausea, vomiting, headache, breast tenderness and enlargement, mood swings, depression, anxiety, weight gain,
abdominal pain,
vaginal discharge, breast discharge, irregular menstrual periods,
spotting between periods, dizziness, agitation, allergic reactions etc.
Your using antidepressant like Citrol which contains citalopram doesn't interfere with birth control like Marviol. But some other antidepressants can make birth control less effective. So, it is always a good idea to consult with your doctor about any medicines you are taking to avoid having a bad reaction before using an OCP.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
