Does Medication For Elevated TSH Cause Itchy Back?
I start to take levothyroxine 25 mg X 2 once a day due to elevated TSH (8.1) In a few days I noticed that my upper side back is itching. I also take 2 medication to treat my Hep C ( Sovaldi 400 mg and Ribasphere 200 mg X twice a day) What is the source of the itching? Thank you Boris

The possible diagnosis of the condition based on the description of the lesions is icthyosis secondary to hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can cause dry skin leading to itching. Apply emolients regularly all over the body to protect against dry skin.Antihistamines like fexofenadine may also be used. Consult your dermatologist regarding the above mentioned therapy. Regards
