I am 7o yrs old and diabetic. Couple of years ago I consulted with my specialist he recommended to use metozermide as I had itching and red spot. Now I notice when I pulled back the foreskin for cleaning found a green spot look like a fungus growth. Sometimes looks like it is going away. But is is there. I do not want to hurt the situation by rubbing. Please help.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

The commonest cause of fungal infection in the foreskin is uncontrolled diabetes. Metrizamide is a contrast medium which is used for xray studies and may be it was something else that your doctor had recommended.
I think you should check your blood sugars and if uncontrolled, should have the diabetes controlled. You can apply a local antifungal cream like canesten (1% clotrimazole), but may require an oral antifungal if not better with topical alone.
I am available if you have further queries.
