Does Migraine Cause CRVO Or Can Stress Lead To Hypertension?

Hi Dr. After I found out that my husband was living a double life and I ve decided to leave him, a week later, I could not see out of my left eye. I went to seek help and my doctor dx me with CRVO. I am a healthy 40 year old with no medical history. I ve done all the blood tests as well as brain MRI and carotid artery dopler imagine and everything showed negative. The only medical condition that I have is migraine. Do you think migraine might be the culprit of my CRVO? or stress leading to hypertension?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are having CRVO meaning central retinal vein occlusion.
It is because of obstruction of the central retinal vein and results in gross diminution of vision or loss of vision.
Migraine will not lead to this condition CRVO is caused by atherosclerosis hypertension hypercholesterolemia.......
The treatment depends on the severity, if it is less severe type called as non ischaemic treatment is available and it is by steroids.
If it is severe type called as ischaemic treatment is usually not effective.
Hence I advice you to consult ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
