Does Mild Bleeding After Taking 4 Misoprostol Pills Vaginally Followed By A Missed Period Indicate An Incomplete Abortion?

Hello Dr! I was about two days late in July, I took a home pregnancy test n it was negative, I went ahead to insert 4 tablets on misopresol in my vagina, after about 3hrs of cramping, I vomited and had mild bleeding which lasted only for two days, I went ahead to HV sex with my fiancée and the bleeding started again but not still heavy and ended after about 3days.. I didn t get my period August, so I took a home pregnancy test yesterday and it was positive...my question is does it mean I wasn t pregnant in July even after a missed period or was the abortion incomplete and the pregnancy persisted?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since your pregnancy test was negative in July, it's unlikely that you were pregnant in that month. You should have waited few more days before taking any medication. I would suggest you to do an ultrasound. It will clear out two things.
1. Whether you are pregnant or not.
2. If you are pregnant sine July or not.

I would even advice you to consult a gynecologist.
