Hello doctor,i am vijay from sangli-Maharashtra.yesterday my family doctor told me to go for blood test due to loose motion problem.i got the report positive but for its confirmation he suggested to go for Elisa test, will the test confirmed for HIV ?
HIV can't be confirmed by a single ELISA test. Are you having loose motions for a longer period of time ? Are you having weight loss and fever ? Have you indulged in any high risk exposure (unprotected sex)/ or have received any blood transfusion or shared needles for taking drugs? Without these exposure , you can't get HIV, it has to to get entry into your body through these routes . Just because you were having loose motions, it is not wise to suggest somebody to get tested for HIV , unless of course there is a history of aforesaid exposures. Hope this helps.\ Regards
