my mom is 46 years old.. The following is the lipid profile:: total cholesterol:229 mg/dl triglycerides:150 mg/dl H.D.L :40 mg/dl L.D.L: 159 mg/dl V.L.D.L : 30 mg/dl are medications necessary for her ? height:5 ft 3 weight 52 Kg

hi..her total cholesterol is a bit on higher side...in ladies with age after 45 years there is a decrease in oestrogen resulting in increased lipid profile levels..here she has a good hdl level...we would go ahead with life style modifications only...not with any medicines...have a fat free diet ..eat lots of fibre diet ..and have a good walk for 30 mons in morning which will reduce her triglycerides..
