Hello there! I understand what you are going through. There is something known as a pain threshold, meaning given the same circumstances another person of your age may not require as many pain medications you do. The more pain medication you take, the more tolerant you become, so the same amount of medications that gave you relief may not be enough to give you pain relief, so what happens is, gradually the amount of medications required will increase (addiction), this is what you are going through right now. managing pain is a mind thing, I'm sure your pain therapist and addiction specialist will be able to help you with alternate techniques. I hope this helps.
