Does Nausea Caused By Rosuvastatin Go Away On Its Own?
I am confused about my symptoms of the medicine I am taking. I just started taking rosuvastatin 5 mg. about 10 days ago and I also started going off of matazapine 7.5. I am experiencing a lot of nasuea after I eat. I don t know which medicine is causing this or maybe both. Will this side effect eventually go away?
Just wanted to clarify. Are you on Mirtazapine? If yes, Nausea is one of the withdrawal symptoms when the dosage of Mirtazapine has been reduced. It would be best to talk to your treating physician regarding the same.
Rosuvastatin can also cause nausea as a side effect. To avoid this side effect, preferably take the medication after food. If still persists, try a course of antacids like Ranitidine or Pantoprazole before food. If the problem is long lasting, do talk to your treating physician regarding changing from Rosuvastatin to another lipid lowering drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan, General & Family Physician
