I was expecting my periods on 12th of august but wanted to delay my periods. so I took Premolut N 5mg twice daily starting from 6th august up to 17th august. After stopping the tablet, I expected to get my periods within 2-3 days. But its already 25th and I didn't get periods. Is it normal or is there any chance of getting pregnant? I had my fertile days during 29th of July (that day we tried for baby). Am afraid if I was pregnant before starting tablet which I didn't recognize. Now, if I am really pregnant, how does norethisterone affects my pregnancy? Is there any serious effect on my baby? Am very upset. Please help me. (I started taking tablet only after a negative home pregnancy test on 6th of august) Please help me out....
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Primulet contains norethisterone which is a progesterone. It is a pregnancy category X drug which means that it is completely contraindicated in pregnancy. It is known to cause virilization of female fetus if taken in pregnancy. You may have conceived and had taken norethisterone in the conception period. I would suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test if your periods get delayed. If positive, then do consult an OBGYN specialist and get a detailed anomaly ultrasound at18-20 weeks of pregnancy to see for fetal congenital anomalies. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
