Does Patchy Scalp Suggest Alopecia Or Cancer?

My daughter since age of 2.5 years was having patchy scalp, doctor prescribed trichotone, derobin and manaxil gel. The patches were gone but now after 2 years again the same problem has come. This can be alopecia but is there any permanent and safe treatment? It this related to cancer or any other serious disease?

Most likely cause of hair loss in her case is alopecia areata which ia an autoimmune disease that causes patchy hair loss.It has an unpredictable course and remissions and exacerbations are comon. It is associated with other autoimmune diseases like autoimmune thyroiditis but not with cancer.Treatment includes oral mini pulse steroid therapy, intralesional steroid therapy and topical tacrolimus. However treatment depends on type and amount of hair fall.Regards.
