Does Perinatal Asphyxia With Focal Seizure Repeat Itself In Future Pregnancies?
sir, i deliver a girl baby on 20-04-2011,the baby had breathing problem at the time of birth & she didnot cry,open her eyes,we kept her in ventilator & she died after 34 hrs .diagnosis result shows perinatal asphyxia stage 3 & focal seizure also noted.sir, why it happend , if i have a second child whether that baby also will hve the same problem.

Asphyxia means lack of oxygen. Perinatal axphyxia means lack of oxygen to the baby either few weeks just before the delivery, or during delivery or just after delivery.
Several conditions can cause perinatal asphyxia, For eg,
1. Placenta separating from the uterus too soon
2.Problems with umbilical cord like tight cord coils around baby neck or cord being compressed interfering with blood supply to baby.
3. Prolonged and difficult delivery
4. Severe infection in mother or baby
5. Severe blood pressure in the mother
6. Babys airway has not developed or blocked
These conditions don't recur if good care is taken during pregnancy and delivery. So don't worry about your second child suffering from it. You can plan your pregnancy without this fear.
When you get pregnant, I advise you to register for antenatal care in a good nursing home with facilities for monitoring the baby during labor and having facilities for baby care.
